Introductions and Inspirations

Hello, friends and fellow play enthusiasts!

I'm Jessica Bergen, and I'm here to introduce you to something very close to my heart—Everspring Play Inc., a non-profit organization on a mission to provide safe play opportunities for children and families. As a child development and early education expert with 15 years of hands-on experience, I am incredibly passionate about the importance of play in a child's life. I firmly believe that every child, regardless of their age, ability, background, income, or neighborhood, deserves the right to safe and enriching play experiences.

A Personal Journey

My journey with Everspring Play Inc. began when I transitioned from working with children in a professional setting to staying home with my own kids. Suddenly, I found myself looking at play opportunities in a whole new way. I quickly discovered that finding safe places to play with babies or young toddlers was a real challenge. Parks were often designed with older children in mind, making them less than ideal for the youngest members of our community.

Moreover, living in California's Central Valley presented its own set of challenges. Extreme heat and poor air quality meant that outdoor parks and playgrounds were often unsafe for a significant part of the year. Indoor play spaces, on the other hand, were also geared towards older children, leaving parents of babies and toddlers with limited options.

It was during these moments of seeking safe and engaging play spaces for my own children that I realized something was missing. The best option often turned out to be fast-food restaurants with indoor play areas. While these places offered affordability and accessibility, they lacked the engaging, imaginative play opportunities that I believed children deserved. As a mother, I spent countless hot summer days chatting with fellow moms in these play areas, wiping sticky hands and retrieving dropped blankets. We shared stories, milestones, and parenting tips, but one common sentiment arose time and again: "I wish we had somewhere else to go."

This shared desire for safe, clean, and engaging play spaces was not limited to stay-at-home parents. Moms from all walks of life, whether they planned to return to work or stay home as full-time caregivers, shared the longing for a place where their babies and toddlers could play, socialize, and give them a well-deserved break.

I knew that I could create a place like this—a haven for safe play opportunities for children and families, a place that understands the unique needs of parents and caregivers, and a place where imaginations can flourish.
